Thank you for taking the time to read this.
My name is Fiona and I now live in Wales after living many years in Africa and Ireland.
Why did I start Keeping You Close?
The tradition of keepsake jewellery dates back to the Middle Ages but is not always thought of nowadays as a way of keeping loved ones near to you.
Victorians placed a lock of hair into brooches or lockets (pendants) made of precious metal.
After losing my parents and my beloved soulmate Brian to cancer, I bought a locket and placed a portion of their ashes inside it. I took the locket to a jeweller to seal it but he could not due to the thinness of the gold.
This started me searching for sealable lockets...
It also occurred to me that it does not only have to be something one does after the death of a loved one – it could also apply to people who are separated for long periods of time or simply be given as a declaration of friendship and love. Beloved pets (I have two rescue dogs) can also be honoured in this way.
I am pleased to have found a reputable jeweller in the UK who makes the highest quality, superior keepsake jewellery in solid Sterling Silver and solid 9 carat gold, made especially for the purpose of preserving something significant of a loved one.
I have gained great comfort from my locket - I wear it almost permanently and I take it with me wherever I go. We have been many places together!
Please do not hesitate to contact me, Fiona, on the Contact Us page if you have any queries.
